CELLO RENTALS

K&D Music is now offering cello rentals!

We currently have starter cellos available in sizes 3/4, 7/8, and 4/4. 

Starter cellos are from the H. Luger line and include multiple upgrades, including Wittner geared pegs for hassle-free tuning at home, Larsen "Aurora" strings, Gewa carbon bow, and sturdy gig bag.

Supply is limited - reach out asap if you would like to rent this year!

 

Rental fee: $50 + tax (credited toward purchase)

Insurance premium: $5

TOTAL MONTHLY PAYMENT: $60.28

Our rental program is designed to streamline the process of upgrading to a better instrument when the child is ready (usually when they enter high school). At that point, they will receive a beautiful step-up cello along with a better bow and a hard case. The monthly rent will then be calibrated to target an attainable payoff date.

Accrued rental credit may be applied toward purchase of the step-up instrument, and can also be used to pay for strings, accessories, and maintenance supplied by K&D Music. 

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. PURCHASE CREDIT: Rental payments accrue as credit toward purchase of a suitable step-up instrument at manufacturer’s suggested retail price. Rental equity may also be used to pay for routine maintenance, including string changes and bow rehairs. Credit will only accrue when the account is kept current. Rental credit expires if the rental agreement is terminated upon return of the instrument. 

  2. SIZE-UP: When a student has outgrown their starter instrument, they may exchange it for a larger size. Please give at least two months advance notice when a size-up will be needed, and you will be notified when one is available.

  3. STARTER VS. STEP-UP: Young students will be provided a good quality starter instrument suitable for their age and level of experience. These instruments are considered temporary and are not available for purchase. When a student reaches the age or playing level to require a better quality instrument, they will select a step-up instrument, which will be their purchased instrument when and if they complete the rent-to-own program. Once a step-up instrument is issued, the monthly rental rate will be calibrated to achieve full payment of MSRP within a five-year total rental period or otherwise agreed-upon timeframe. Accrued equity will not be refunded if renter terminates the rental agreement prior to completion of purchase.

  4. DAMAGE INSURANCE: We offer an affordable insurance plan to cover damage to rental equipment due to accident or normal wear and tear. Insurance premium is billed monthly and does not accrue as purchase credit. Our damage protection plan does NOT cover loss or theft, routine maintenance, intentional damage or vandalism. A deductible may be assessed for major damage, up to 15% of the cost of repair or replacement. Insurance coverage is required for starter instruments, and optional for step-up instruments.

  5. OWNERSHIP: During the term of the rental agreement and until it has been fully purchased, all provided equipment will remain the property of K&D Music, LLC. 

  6. START OF RENTAL: Initial rental payment will be $150, to include the remainder of the current month, the following month, and an orientation lesson to cover instrument care and the basics of playing technique. Both the student and the parent/guardian (if applicable) are to attend the orientation, which must be scheduled by appointment.

  7. CONTINUATION: K&D Music is open by appointment only, generally on weekends at the Tacoma location. Please contact karen@kanddmusic.com to schedule an appointment for service or consultation. 

  8. TERMINATION: Equipment may be returned at any time by appointment, at which point your account is automatically closed.  

  9. RENTER’S RESPONSIBILITY: Renter must notify K&D Music of any changes to their residence or contact information, and their child’s school, if applicable. If the renter moves outside of the greater Puget Sound area, they must either return the rented equipment or pay the remainder of the MSRP to purchase it.

  10. PAYMENTS: Rental payments will be invoiced on the 1st of each month. Invoices will be delivered by e-mail and may be paid online. Automatic payments can be set up, and are encouraged.

  11. PAST DUE / DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS: Accounts not paid by the 10th of the month will be assessed a $5 late fee. Accounts more than 60 days past due may be referred to a collection agency. A repossession fee of $100 along with any other costs incurred will be billed along with past due balances if the equipment is not returned voluntarily and within a timely manner.
