Music Performance

Danny

Danny is a classically-trained brass musician, specializing in euphonium, trombone, and tuba. He holds performance degrees and diplomas from University of North Texas, Royal Northern College of Music, and University of Washington. He has performed with numerous acclaimed ensembles, including Seattle Symphony, USAF Band, St. James Cathedral Brass, Euphonix, and many more. 

Danny also sings and plays guitar and other fretted instruments.

Karen

Karen specializes in bowed stringed instruments, and performs on classical cello and bass. She has appeared with a number of local orchestras, including Harmonia, Lake Union Civic Orchestra, and Rainier Symphony. She is also an active practitioner of folk music, and can frequently be found at camps, workshops, festivals, and jams where she plays bass, fiddle and sings.

Bonfire Strings

Bonfire Strings is a trio featuring Shelley Weiss on fiddle, Karen Helseth on cello, and Danny Helseth on guitar. They perform amplified acoustic instrumental arrangements from a variety of folk traditions, specializing in contemporary Swedish folk music.

The Boondockers

The Boondockers is a Bluegrass band performing a repertoire of traditional and contemporary bluegrass songs, and an occasional pop cover.

K&D Duo

The Duo is a scaled-down version of The Boondockers. They perform bluegrass standards, fiddle tunes, and popular songs from the singer-songwriter tradition.
